慈湖集天地灵秀之气，湖光山色近似浙江奉化山水，“埤尾”摇身一变为“慈湖”，位于桃园大溪镇。因蒋公陵寝及行馆选择此地，使得慈湖美名远播，为一处人工蓄水池，分前后两水塘，依山傍水，风景秀丽，颇有江南山水之风貌，相传该地尽得地利龙穴之上乘。绿意盎然的花园，每逢初春，百花盛开，闲荡其中，心旷神怡。慈湖宾馆坐落于青山绿水间，更显得宁静超然。<br>
俗称牛角楠埤、埤尾，位于大溪镇，是一座人工水库，分前后两湖，前湖较大，后湖略小，壮若新月。因景色幽雅，与浙江奉化的景色很相似，蒋介石为追思慈母王太夫人，故将此地改名为慈湖。沿湖遍植黄椰子、蒲葵、修竹，形成一条苍翠藩篱，大汉溪的清流激湍映带左右，风光旖旎，成为一座小小的天然湖山公园。绿意盎然的花园，每逢初春，便百花盛开，闲步其中，如诗如画。大溪陵寝为先总统 蒋公陵墓，可入内瞻仰仪容。往复兴方向，沿途旅游点甚多，亦是桃园县旅游精华区。 <br>
慈湖为蒋介石生前钟爱的休闲处，故蒋介石过世之后，遂遗嘱厝灵柩于此。慈湖和大溪陵寝是先总统蒋公和蒋经国先生二位的陵寝，同位于大溪镇福安里，二地相距不远。慈湖旧名埤尾，有前后两湖，其间有小溪相连，先总统蒋公以其酷似故乡浙江奉化为由，命名为慈湖。而大溪陵寝原为头寮宾馆，本是一座平淡的四合院，陵寝四周植有龙柏、梅树、山茶，气氛宁静安详，蒋经国先生的灵柩奉厝在正厅，一般来此谒灵的人均在正厅前的天井行礼致敬。<br>
