网上流行一句话“一切不以结婚为目的的谈恋爱，都是耍流氓”。虽是戏语，却也道出了结婚的重要性。甚至还有更直接的说法“爱她，就要给她一个家;爱她，就把她娶回家。”<br>
古语则把“久旱逢甘雨，他乡遇故知，洞房花烛夜，金榜题名时”列为人生的四大喜事。其中，“洞房花烛夜”，说的就是举行婚礼那天的当夜。<br>
为什么要举行婚礼呢?<br>
这是因为，结婚具有非常重要的意义，结婚是人生一道重要的分水岭。古人说“成家立业”，结婚后的人，才被视为真正的成人。结婚之后，两个人就要开始正式的婚姻生活。<br>
而婚礼，就是举行结婚的仪式。结婚双方，以婚礼这种方式，向世人公告这段婚姻，并得到亲戚朋友们的祝福。以期婚姻幸福，感情永固。<br>

<font size="3">简单而言，举行婚礼的意义就是四个公开：</font><br>
一、公开承诺彼此将成为对方的配偶，将对自己、亲友、社会负责并维系这份承诺;<br>
二、公开承诺双方将建立一个新家庭，并将为本家庭共同努力奋斗，共同建立美好的未来;<br>
三、公开证明婚姻的效力，并得到法律的确认与保护;<br>
四、公开接受亲友的祝福。<br>
只有在亲友祝福下的婚姻，才会体验到真正的幸福，才能保证婚姻的长久性和稳固性，同时在这种祝福下，双方会更欣然的去适应他们的婚姻生活。<br>
结婚是人生大事，自然应该对外公开，亦表示正式合法。举行结婚仪式的婚礼可以不必铺张，但却要隆重庄严，才具有意义。<br>
而那些逃避婚礼仪式的人，常被视为不愿承认双方有契约、不愿被对方限制、缺乏对自己、对配偶及对未来婚姻完整性的信心，或者还持有游戏人间的心态。<br>
这样，自然就得不到亲人、朋友们的祝福;这种种态度，也都将影响婚姻美满，导致婚后的婚姻破裂、离婚几率增大。<br>
