<font size="5"><font color="black"> 沙坝河乡位于松桃苗族自治县的西南边陲，东与牛郎、盘信两镇毗邻，南与江口县桃映乡接壤，西与普觉镇梁洪村相邻，北与平头乡相接；距县城62公里，海拔390米，国土面积64.5平方公里，耕地面积7506亩，其中：田3501亩，土4005亩；位于东经109°28′至109°12′，北纬27°52′至27°59′之间。全乡辖10个行政村，92个村民组，2523户，13200人，境内居住有汉、苗、土家、侗、仡老、羌六个民族，汉族主要居住在沙坝、凉风、泡木、桐木、红沙五个行政村；土家、侗、仡老、羌族杂居在汉族村寨中。少数民族以苗族最多，有6504人，主要集中居住在王家普、界牌、茅坪、半河、天星五个村。全乡有姓氏42个，最多的姓氏是吴姓，有4065人，最少的姓氏是贺姓，有4人。</font></font><br>
<font size="5"><font color="black"> 境内群山起伏,地势高低悬殊,属典型的山地地形.整个地势是四周高,中间低;山脉走向呈北高南低形态,最高山峰在与牛郎镇交界的风水山;属亚热带季风气候,冬无严寒、夏无酷暑，春暖秋凉，四季分明。年平均气温15℃，年降雨量1400毫米，年均日照时数为1168小时，无霜期295天，适合农业生产；土壤以沙土为主，有少量红土。适合花生、油菜、红薯、油桐、杉树生长；境内气候温和，动植物和矿产资源十分丰富。主要矿产资源有石英石、钒矿、磷矿等，其中犹以</font><font color="magenta">石英石得天独厚，其质量和储量居全国第二位。</font></font><br>
<font size="5"><font color="black"> 沙坝河乡在1992年以前，属于小乡，名叫沙坝乡，1992年撤区并乡后，沙坝乡成为独立乡，上升为科级单位，并改名为沙坝河乡，因境内沙坝河贯穿全境而得名。沙坝乡在1956年前属于铜仁县管辖，1956年12月松桃成立苗族自治县，沙坝划归松桃管辖。</font></font><br>
<font size="5"><font color="black"> 沙坝河乡历届党委、政府在县委、县政府的正确领导下，坚持以邓小平理论和“三个代表”重要思想为指导，全面贯彻落实中央十四大、十五大、十六大和中央一号文件精神，团结协作，勤奋工作，抢抓机遇，按照“强农稳乡，生态畜牧业富乡，劳务经济活乡”的发展思路，带领全乡党员干部群众解放思想，开拓创新，顽强拼搏，全乡经济得到持续、快速、健康发展。完成了上级分解的目标任务。</font></font><br>
<font size="5"><font color="black"> 到2007年末，全乡实现社会生产总值2647万元，其中：农业生产总值774.2万元，财税收入40.2万元，农民人均纯收入1088.78元，分别比“九五”期末增长21%、25%、6%、40%。完成地方生产总值2958万元，同比增长44.46%，其中：一产增加值2869万元，二产增加值25万元，三产增加值64万元，同比分别增长58.86%、10.15%、30.99%。</font></font><br>
<font size="5"><font color="black"> 农业是国民经济持续、健康发展和社会稳定的基础。沙坝河乡始终坚持农业基础地位不动摇，大力推进“科技兴农”战略的实施，农业产业结构调整迈出可喜步伐，农村经济稳步发展。全乡从山区农业特点出发，采取多种经营，综合发展，因地制宜，突出重点的方针，稳步推进农业产业结构调整。现已初步形成了界牌村、天星村、凉风村以优质辣椒和西瓜种植为主的示范区；以仔猪生产为主的红沙村畜牧生猪养殖小区。茅坪、桐木、泡木三村以发展畜牧业，家禽饲养为主的生态农业示范区。沙坝、半河、王普三村以农产品加工为主的手工作坊区。此外，还在沙坝村种植蜜柚100亩，美国黑李100亩，茅坪村种植蜜柚50亩，红沙村种植脐橙55.2亩。全乡退耕还林3700.3亩，劳务输出11000人。这些调整，推动了全乡经济的健康发展。</font></font><br>
